Anti-OC by Lyn-Zo Anti-OC by Lyn-Zo
a stamp for anyone who shares a similar view. Mary/Gary sue or not.

I don't read fanfictions about my favorite shows, comics, anime and etc just to read about one of your little characters.

SRSLY. I don't give two shits about it in fanart, as I don't look at it enough to... but keep it out of fanfiction realm, for all our sakes. I understand using minor OCs to help move the plot along... but focusing the entire basis of your story on some random character irrelevant to the actual series? Why not just write your own story instead?

I don't mind OCs for the most part. If they're well developed and not completely perfect with everyone in the story fighting over them, then it's actually a fresh and new idea for me to read.

To be fair, you don't hate new characters. Just badly written characters.
Which is mostly what most people do. It's mostly because it's self-insertion and the lack of actually getting into the original creators mind and perspective.

There are however people who could have the ability to write really well written characters that would fit as naturally as if the original creator created themselves.

Of course those are far and few between...and at that point, they might as well make their own story.

Oh and a bit of serendipity, most fanfictions are as bad as OCs.

Maybe you should just change this stamp into, "Sorry, but... I hate poorly written ideas".

Well that's obvious. But there are always a few gems among the shitty ones, and that's kinda what I seek. The ones not written by thirteen year olds

I think its more fun to create an OC with your own world instead of taking a story line someone else came up with.

Oc's are technically fakes with no persona and are replacements for female anime characters. They are supposed to be perfect and everyone fights over them trying to get them pregnant and so forth. They are created by the author so they can be the main females and be with their favorite male character.

I once stumbled upon a wiki dedicated to Sonic OC's. And I kid you not, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was an absolute Sue. I have nothing against OC's, having written stories myself with them, but I try not to make them perfect, because, well, that makes it boring. I will accept an OC if they are well-balanced. If not, well, goodbye.

I was once reading a fanfic when all of the sudden a oc appeared! It felt like the fanfic just became about the oc.

Look here, bucko, nobody gives a single shit about your views on OCs. That's not gonna stop me, or anybody else from makin' OCs. Now please get off the internet and rethink your entire life.

Oh and also, change your icon, you might give someone a seizure.

Yeah, and that's why I have a problem with this stamp. People have the right to make characters and do whatever the hell they want with them, whether it's make new shows, or put them in already existing shows. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine. HOWEVER if you tell people not to do it, or tell them their fanfics suck SOLELY because of an OC (and just the fact that it's an OC. If it's a god awful sue, and it's not a parody, that's a different story) that's a really shitty thing to do.

As long as they aren't hurting anybody, don't fucking tell them what to fucking do with their fanfics.

I dislike so many Oc's Bah. So many Oc's are badly done.
Worst for me is pairing yourself as a character with the main guy just so you two could screw each other.
I understand it's Fanfiction, but there's a limit.

I don't exactly agree. Many oc's are crap, because they're either overpowered mary sues, or pitiful anti- sues.

A few I've seen are actually good.

If an oc is well balanced, it's good.

Likewise, all canon chars were once oc's.

I'd say it's fine to make a series that takes place in an existing universe with an entire cast of OCs, that don't include the official cast. But mixing OCs and canon characters kinda sucks.

Also, I don't mind OC villains, because they aren't the focus of the story, and eventually, they lose.

I barely have OCs. Only if it's needed for the plot, like, a nurse or something...but I don't have my full concentration on them. That's just stupid, because they don't belong in that fictional world.

I rarely find an FF that has an OC that I like and want to read about.  Most of the time, I prefer canon-only.
"THIS FF CONTAINS OCS" warnings are always appreciated...why I stick them on mine if they have them XP

OCxCannon to me is a terrible idea, for one thing I hate when they pair a cannon character with a oc if there already dating someone. If you're gonna take the time to make an oc, why not make you're oc character with another oc?. Sides like with me i made a human and Leprechaun story, it's a slash there both my oc characters and i own them both. I don't piss anti cannonxoc people, and i get to decide everything about them.

Everybody wins.

I'm a purist in that sense. Even cameo appearances by the author's or their friend's avatar can completely throw me off in a story. It just feels pointless, like "who the hell is this guy and since when did he know so-and-so!?". If the story happens to be good enough where I save it to my hard drive, very tellingly, the OC part can always be easily removed from the story and as they say..."nothing of value was lost"

What you are talking about seems to be fan characters rather than OCs real OCs in my opinion exist in their own world but many people call their fan characters OCs. This type of character is fan art and many are bad but a few are good but if one doesn't like it your free not to read it.

I like ocs in a story, but when they take over the whole plot, become "IM THE ALMIGHTY AND POWERFUL (insert weird/ awkward name here) ! I CAN RUN FASTER THAN SONIC AND SHADOW COMBINED 6,000 TIMES!" I HATE characters like that! Otherwise I like ocs. Just my opinion. :)
